Natural disasters affecting supply chains and the increased needs from home electronics, 5G, cloud services, and the auto industry have resulted in a global chip shortage. Some automakers have suspended the manufacture, leading to global production loss or delay.
Rating agency Fitch warns the shortage is expected to continue, and now the Japanese and the US government are proposing legislation and establishing panels with key partners to build stronger chip supply chains.
